Job Summary:
Bidvest Prestige is seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and risks in the workplace.
3. Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
4. Provide safety training to employees on topics such as proper equipment usage, emergency procedures, and hazard identification.
5. Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
6. Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports, training records, and safety inspections.
7. Coordinate with management and other departments to ensure that safety measures are integrated into all aspects of operations.
8. Stay current on industry best practices and trends in safety management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
